No Nut Policy
We all need to work together to keep Skinner North as safe as possible for our classmates, teachers, and staff members. Our no nut policy helps our friends with peanut and tree nut allergies to be included in social activities and to enjoy lunchtime as safely as possible with their friends.
Please do not bring any nuts or products containing nuts into the school building, as we are trying to limit exposure to allergens. This includes nuts in lunches from home, nuts at parent coffees or other parent events, and nuts at school events. Everybody follows this policy--even teachers and principals--to make sure we keep the environment as safe as possible for all students and staff.
Nuts include the following: Peanuts, almonds, Brazil nuts, cashews, chestnuts, filberts/hazelnuts, macadamia nuts, pecans, pistachios, pine nuts, and walnuts. Nuts may commonly be found in nut butters, such as peanut butter or almond butter, granola bars and trail mixes, and other food products. Coconut and soynut are not considered to be nuts.
There are many healthy and tasty alternatives to nut butters. Give them a taste test and your child might just be surprised at how yummy they are. Options include the following:

Food Only in the Cafeteria Policy
Skinner North has a strict policy that students may only consume food in the cafeteria (this includes the gym during breakfast). Keeping food out of our classrooms helps to keep our school clean and safe for all our students! This policy helps keep our school free of insects and rodents. It also helps to make classrooms safer for our classmates.
Are you hungry or is a younger sibling hungry? Parents and siblings may consume food and beverages in the Parent Room. Please clean up after yourself to keep our school clean and safe.
